NGO MALINA

The NGO Malina is an independent media outlet committed to conducting specialised journalistic investigations into the fight against corruption. Through a rigorous approach, MALINA highlights practices of high-level corruption that have a direct impact on the public interest and the country’s development, affecting key sectors (education, health, environment, mining, land, political integrity, etc.).

Our ambition for the future: Access for citizens to reliable and informed information, enabling them to defend the common interest.

What guides us:

•     Transparency: Exposing acts of corruption that compromise the public interest;

•     Accountability: Calling on decision-makers to take responsibility for various abuses and excesses;

•     Integrity: Adherence to the journalistic charter and code of ethics at every stage of production in order to disseminate verified and authentic information in accordance with the art.

Our journey:
Malina was founded in 2018 as a network of anti-corruption investigative journalists created and supported by Transparency International – Initiative Madagascar (TI-MG) following a successful collaboration on a newspaper article about rosewood. TI-MG provides an environment conducive to independent investigative journalism by offering financial, logistical and technical support to journalists.
In 2022, to support Malina’s growth as a media outlet, it became a non-governmental organisation, continuing its efforts to ensure its sustainability and autonomy in order to reach a wider audience through the diversification of production and publication formats.
Malina currently has around 20 journalists and technicians based in Antananarivo, Antsirabe, Toamasina, Morondava and Antsiranana.
